RACHEAL QUEK LIN SHING U2003296 (TEAM C)

Good day everyone! I am here glad to share some of my thoughts and feelings after conducting a 2 Days Free Online Seminar as the project for my GIG1005 Social Engagement course. At first, I really do not have much expectations on carrying out this seminar. What I think of is basically I need to complete this project so that I can pass the course.

However, in my way of preparation, I realised that I am getting more and more interested into it. Ideas kept coming across my mind which I knew that I would not want to treat it as a “project” anymore. I wanted this seminar to be a successful one in the way of giving impacts to the participants and made them feel that it is worthily to join us.

I am pretty sure that all of my Team C members shared the same thought as me because I can see that everyone was putting their 100% effort in organising this seminar. Although we did face some challenges such as lack of participants and struggling for platform to be used, we still manage to get through it together. Together we had meetings for discussion until late night. Together we tried on different alternatives to make things work. And together we found solutions and overcome it.

Besides, I am also truly grateful that we had Dr Zalfa’s guidance throughout our journey. Dr really did give us lots of advice on how we can improve for our activity. I did feel that Dr is always trying to stay connected with us and give necessary guidance from time to time. I do appreciate of all her guidance along our way in organising this seminar as I had developed new skills that would definitely be useful in the future.

At the end of the seminar, we received lots of positive feedback from the participants. This make me feel that it is truly worth it to spend times organising this meaningful seminar. Even a thank you message from them is satisfying enough for me to paid off all the hardships.

Throughout this journey, I really learnt lots of new skills such as teamwork skills, communication skills and interpersonal skills. This is absolutely the biggest gain I obtained from this social engagement course. By involving in such social-related activities, I understood that contributing to the society could be done in various ways.

We as a student even though may not afford to pay back the society in a financial way but we can do our part like sharing all the knowledge we had with others. Lastly, I believe that all the things you do today will eventually comes back to you and this is how important to stay connected with the society.

Thank you Dr Zalfa and everyone from group 6! Stay safe and stay connected!
